Established in 1998, China Guanda Hose Technology Co., Ltd. is a professional clay pipe manufacturer and wholesaler of hoses and tubes. They are widely used in the field of aerospace, metallurgy, petrol-chemical, machinery, architecture, shipping, vacuum, power and light industries.

The general shape of the English clay pipe bowl was similar all over the country until about the middle of the 17th century. At this time the industry really began to flourish and by the 1720 period there were pipe makers in all the major towns and cities. The size of the bowl had doubled to hold more tobacco which had become very affordable and the style of the bowl varied from region to region. Leading centres such as London and Bristol produced elegant slender shapes that contrasted with the thicker rugged looking pipes smoked by country folk. The photograph here shows a variety of these from locations including London, Bristol, Devon, Wiltshire, Shropshire and the North of England.

This pipe is one of my new designs for 2008. The shape of the bowl is copied from original pipes made in the Port City of Bristol in England and exactly like those that were exported world-wide at the time of 1690-1730. Originals were often plain but many of the Bristol pipes had a cartouche on the side with the makers mark. For this special creation I have taken the date of 1718 which is significant with the death of the pirate Blackbeard and added that to the side of the bowl. No original clay pipes are known to exist that would have marked an event like that, until now that is. This pipe is perfect for pirates and re-enactors of that period.
Approx 5 inches long with a slightly curved stem. Bowl approx 1 & a half inch (4cm) tall. This pipe can be smoked. The pipe is moulded, then trimmed and finally hand burnished to a high standard.
