Black Stove pipe connects a freestanding wood stove to the chimney Cannot be used as a chimney system (inside walls or attic, or outside of the building), it cannot be used inside a masonry chimney as a chimney lining system. 24 guage is the minimum thickness recommended to provide a secure smoke passage to the chimney system. Black pipe is grouped below by item and the drop-down list allows you to choose the diameter needed when ordering; if a size shows "NA" then the item is not available in that diameter. If your stove has an oddly sized flue outlet, then generally it is most practical to use a pipe increaser to adapt the system to a standard pipe size that offers a greater selection of components. For example, if your stove's flue outlet is 5", install a 5" to 6" increaser which will allow you to use standard 6" diameter stove pipe to complete your installation. Reducing pipe size is not recommended; if a change in pipe size is necessary then increase the pipe size instead of reducing it. |

Put 3 screws into each pipe joint. This helps prevent the pipe from vibrating apart if a chimney fire occurs The crimped (male) end of the pipe always points TOWARD the stove; this keeps creosote accumulation running inside the pipe rather than dribbling outside of it Match the stove pipe to the flue outlet size on your appliance; reducing the pipe size is not advised. Keep black pipe 18" from combustibles! Use the straightest run possible. Do not exceed 3' of horizontal pipe unless the stove manufacturer specifically ALLOWS you to! Provide 1/4" rise for every 1' of horizontal run. Never allow stove pipe to slope downwards. Don't use more than one 90 degree elbow When connecting black pipe to the wall thimble, the pipe should extend completely through the thimble into the flue, but not protrude into the flue. This keeps any creosote drip inside the flue. |
